A land of contrasts and contradictions, Japan has been on my Japan bucket list for a number of years. Despite having worked in South Korea, its bitter rival, for almost a year over 20 years ago, I missed the chance to visit. Japan has always felt like a once-in-a-lifetime trip which hadn’t subsequently presented itself to me.
